Tony on Town troubled by teenie weenie bikinis

Bikini coffee shops are all the rage in Little Saigon.

And OCN columnist Tony Cheong (Tony on the Town) is none too happy about it. In fact, she’s none too happy about thongs in general, which is why she gets the quote of the week, by my standards: “Dental floss is for your teeth, not your tush.”

Read her column in Wednesday’s paper.

GG Fire Dept. can help you prevent drownings

Despite the Garden Grove Fire Department’s best efforts to educated residents on water safety, there have been six drownings and near drownings in Garden Grove in the past few months.

The latest occurred over the weekend. A 15-year-old boy is now in critical condition at a local hospital.

All residents are encouraged to learn the A-B-C’s of water safety, including CPR. Additionally, a responsible person must be designated to watch the water anytime people are in or around it. Water watcher tags are used to obligate the designated person to not be distracted while watching the water and areas around it. Free water watcher tags and water safety information can be obtained at any Garden Grove fire station.

Aiming as high as the sky…

Former Miss Garden Grove Bree Morse — pictured below — is nothing if not ambitious.

After all, she went on from being queen of Garden Grove to queen of California as Miss California.

Sunday night (Sept. 13), she competed in the Miss America contest. But alas, a young lady from Georgia was crowned.

Nevertheless, it was great to see Bree, from our own backyard, spotlighted on television competing in a national event.

Argos’ running back has game for the ages

Garden Grove High might have lost a squeaker to rival Westminster High last Friday night in the season opener, but Argonauts’ running back Jordan Antunez had a night for the ages, running for 265 yards and four touchdowns.

Look for great things from Antunez, who is fast and powerful. He also knows how to use his blockers.
